This work is the result of a clash between two dimensions, one characterized by the choreography of the artist’s gestures and movements, the other by the nature, density and color of the pigment. The surface also has a role to play because it influences the end result, at the level both of the reflection of light and of the thickness, the physical consistency of the paint.

The first solo show of Jason Martin at Christian Stein was in 2023.

Jason Martin lives and works in London and Portugal. He participated in the Young British Artists exhibition "Sensation" in 1997. While this exhibition brought him international recognition, leading to subsequent exhibitions in the world's most important contemporary art museums, his art diverged from the provocative style of his generation. He painted monochromatic pieces, utilizing oil paints, thick pigments, and graphite to create highly tactile paintings with dynamic color fields, exploring the inner possibilities and potentiality of the medium.

His work is owned by numerous collections worldwide, including:
